Renewing and achieving the ICP Programme of Action – UNECE Regional Voice
The Nairobi Summit will provide the opportunity for Governments, civil society and youth organizations and others to present our own ambitious commitments and concrete and innovative actions to accelerate the implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action (PoA), finish the unfinished business, leaving no one behind, and turn the promise of the ICPD PoA into reality – ensuring rights and choices for all.
The framework for these commitments will be the Nairobi Statement on ICPD: Accelerating the Promise, which is currently being worked on by the International Steering Committee. It is being framed round a number of commitments such as:
“Intensify our efforts for the full, effective and accelerated implementation and funding of the ICPD Programme of Action, Key Sections for the Further Implementation of the Programme of Action of the ICPD, and Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development”
Some of the priorities of concern to countries in the UNECE region are, however, unique to it. Renewing and achieving the ICPD Programme of Action – UNECE Regional Voice offers a series of Messages; text from the Regional Conferences and CSO Consultations that legitimizes them; and a Comment that adds additional comment and meaning. They are arranged around the three Zeros; five themes and five accelerators that underpin the plans for the Nairobi Summit and are aimed to assist CSOs, Youth Groups and other Stakeholders in their advocacy activities for strong commitments emanating from the UNECE region.
